Well, the summer is off to a good start at the museum! The traveling exhibit 'Park It' opened yesterday and is on exhibit through August. We are also planning several history nights at the museum which will include presentations by the original exhibit designer of the museum to help mark the 10 year anniversary, a musicologist presenting her findings on music in the camp, and an updated presentation of the research I conducted last summer on the 28 men from Kossuth County who were prisoners of war in Germany and Japan. The update will include a presentation by Jerry Yocum on the individual men and the plans for a book on this subject. There is also possibly an old movie night in the works.
My projects this summer are going to be pretty fun! I am in charge of updating the website, cataloguing the archives, finishing up on the research from last summer, and a handful of other odds and ends. I thought it may seem like a long summer, but after figuring out exactly what the summer holds for the museum I think time is going to fly by and September is going to be here before we know it!
